Darker

Happy Halloween everybody! I took these pictures on the morning of Halloween, before I went to my job. I got ready very early so I would be able to drive to the location, and capture the images before work. It was quite a tight squeeze timing-wise, but luckily it all worked out in the end! I adore these floral lace cat ears, as they're very different to any other cat headbands I've seen. I bought them weeks before Halloween from Claire's, as I always look forward to Halloween and was thinking ahead to the kind of look I wanted to create for the blog. Wearing them with my black furry coat seemed very fitting, and made the outfit a little more cat-like. I added my Celtic trinity knot stud earrings, for a slightly mystical feel.

I also have a new burgundy cross body bag, which I'm wearing on the shoulder here. I work in a library with books and move around a lot each day, and I always find I need items from my main handbag while I'm working. So I got this smaller bag to transfer my essentials into. Now I can keep my hands free while handling books, and have a little survival kit on hand, containing my tissues, lip balm, a compact mirror, my work ID and keys, etc.

My other exciting news is that I just got my hair coloured for the first time in my life, at the Glasshouse Salon in London's East End. It was all done using one hundred per cent organic hair dye, which they're known for. I had a softening treatment beforehand, then the colour was applied, and the stylist finished with a blow-dry which gave my hair lots of body. I bought the chemical-free shampoo and conditioner from the salon, along with the all-natural treatment product which was used by the stylist. My hair was ultra-soft by the end of this visit, and given my naturally unruly hair texture, I was amazed that was even possible! My hair is one shade darker now, and I love it. I thought the darkness was particularly well-suited to a Halloween-themed look.

I wasn't able to attend any Halloween parties. However, I got into the Halloween spirit by watching The Simpsons' Halloween special, which I loved, and other Halloween-themed episodes of my favourite shows.

I hope you like my Halloween look! Please comment below and let me know. Did you don a costume for Halloween, or opt for a low-key look? Did you do anything special to mark the day? I would love to hear about it!

Thanks for dropping by and see you soon. Lots of love Saba xx

A Chain of Flowers

I took these pictures at the end of summer, to capture an outfit I was wearing a lot during this phase. I love the leopard print top, as it feels familiar and always comfortable. I wore dark jeans, and my New Look embroidered jacket with contrast sleeves in a silver tone. It was an unexpected decision to add the flower crown, as I thought the pink tones in the roses would coordinate nicely with the embroidery on the jacket, making the look a little more bohemian with a romantic feel. It was my first time wearing these accessories all together, and I was really happy with the end result.

Looking at these pictures reminds me of that day, and also makes me think of one of my favourite (and in my view underrated) songs by The Cure, A Chain of Flowers. The lyrics and the atmospheric mood of the song seem perfectly suited to that day, especially since I was wearing a flower crown.

During the summer, I often felt as though things were at a standstill in my personal and work life. I couldn't see a way to move forward, and sometimes it seemed like my efforts were in vain. Then all of a sudden, things started to happen quickly and gain momentum. Since then, I've had a few positive developments in my personal and work life which came as a surprise, and for which I'm thankful. I hope to share these developments with you in proper detail soon.

In the meantime, I hope you love this look. Please let me know what you think in the comments below. I've also included a link to the song A Chain of Flowers, which I hope you'll listen to and adore as much as I do.

Thanks for dropping by, and I hope to see you again very soon. Lots of love Saba xx
